Best Pistachio Milkshake Recipe—Plus a Boozy Option
Homemade pistachio milkshakes are perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, hot summer days, or any time you crave a cool, creamy snack.
Best of all, this pistachio milkshake recipe has only two ingredients— the rest are optional—so it takes less than 5 minutes to prepare!
You don’t need a fancy milkshake maker, just a blender. Just don’t use a food processor, as the liquid will leak out.
Pistachio Milkshake Ingredients
Pistachio Ice Cream
Some recipes for pistachio milkshakes will start with vanilla ice cream and add ingredients to create a pistachio flavor. I like to cut out that extra cost and effort and use a high-quality pistachio ice cream instead.
Whole Milk
You can cut down on fat and calories by substituting a low-fat milk or almond milk. But for the creamiest pistachio shake, whole milk is best.
Personally, I like to be able to drink my milkshakes rather than eat them with a spoon. But if you prefer a thicker milkshake, cut the amount of milk in half.
Whipped Cream (optional)
Make your own whip from heavy whipping cream or use a pre-made version from your grocery store, like Cool Whip or Reddi Wip.
Garnishes (optional)
If you’re adding whipped cream, a cherry on top is a nice finishing touch. Chopped raw pistachios, mini chocolate chips, white chocolate chips, or sprinkles will also add a festive flare. If you’re making the shakes for St. Patrick’s Day, green sugar looks fab.
