Sugar Cookie Truffles: Easy 4-Ingredient Recipe
If you’re set on making homemade Christmas candies, but don’t have a lot of time, Sugar Cookie Truffles are the answer. With only four ingredients and no baking or messy chocolate dipping, they are super simple!
The best part: They’re super delicious too, combining the classic flavors of sugar cookies and white chocolate with the creaminess of truffles.
Traditional truffles are usually chocolate. Fun French food fact: Chocolate truffles were created accidentally in the kitchen of the famous French chef Escoffier over 100 years ago.
Coincidentally, I created this easy Sugar Cookie Truffles Recipe accidentally too.
The first time I made these truffles I was following a recipe that called for dipping the sugar cookie dough balls into melted white chocolate. I hate to admit it, but I had a really hard time with this part (I’m a chef not a candy maker). So, I came up with a solution that saved me.
Why You’ll Love Sugar Cookie Truffles
There are so many reasons to love this no-bake Sugar Cookie Truffles Recipe; here are just a few:
Easy-to-Make Sweet Treat
Sugar Cookie Truffles are incredibly easy to make. They require no baking skills, no candy thermometer, and no dreaded dipping into chocolate (am I the only one who is spooked by dipping?).
Perfect For Any Occasion
Sugar Cookie Truffles—or Sugar Cookie Balls as I also call them—can be customized with different toppings for any time of year. I usually make them for Christmas with red and green festive sprinkles. But you can use any color you desire for any occasion. Or, you can use any other type of decoration for that matter.
Crowd-Pleaser
Seriously, who doesn’t like sugar cookies? And these sweet and creamy truffle treats taste even better than iced sugar cookies. They’re also the perfect size to pop in your mouth, so guests find them hard to resist—and you will too.
Party Perfect
These sugar cookie truffles are an easy make-ahead candy that perks up any dessert table. As with most truffle recipes, these truffles can easily be refrigerated for a week, or stored in the freezer for at least a month. They are perfect for holiday parties, birthday parties, Valentine’s dinner, or even casual gatherings with friends or family.
Great Gift
Make a batch of these homemade candies for anyone with a sweet tooth. You’ll be glad you did—and so will the lucky recipient.

What You'll Need
With just a few simple ingredients available at your local grocery store, you can make these quick homemade candies. Precise measurements for amounts needed are in the recipe below.
Sugar Cookies
Don’t worry, you do not need a homemade sugar cookie recipe! In fact, store-bought cookies that are crispy, like Pepperidge Farm Sugar Cookies, work better than homemade sugar cookies. Soft cookies will not make the fine crumbs needed.
Cream Cheese
Full-fat cream cheese will combine best. Before beginning, let your cream cheese soften at room temperature for at least a half hour, preferably an hour. It will be added to your truffle mixture for a creamy texture, and to your melted chocolate too.
Vanilla Extract (optional)
If you adore the cookies you are using, you can skip the vanilla. But remember, the cookies will be combined with cream cheese so their flavor will get somewhat diluted. That’s why I like to add the extract for an extra hint of vanilla goodness.
White Chocolate Chips
Some truffle makers recommend using melting wafers or candy melts, but those are usually for dipping. For this recipe, I like a high-quality brand of chips for the truffle coating.
Sprinkles or decorations
These are actually optional, so use any kind you like. If you want a change from sprinkles, you can roll your Sugar Cookie Truffles in coconut to make snowballs. You can also drizzle your creations with dark chocolate—or just leave them naked.
Equipment Needed
This recipe is so simple, you don’t need a bunch of mixing bowls, candy thermometer, electric mixer, or dipping tools. You will need the following:
Food processor
Baking sheet
Parchment paper
Small cookie scoop or spoon
Microwave-safe bowl
Wooden spoon

Ingredients
Makes 24 Sugar Cookie Truffles
6 oz sugar cookies
4 oz cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
12 oz white chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Prepare Your Sugar Cookie Crumbs
Start by crushing your sugar cookies into fine crumbs. To do this, place cookies in a large food processor and pulse until they’re ground up nicely. If you don’t have a processor, you can place the cookies in a large resealable plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin until they reach the desired consistency.
2. Mix in the Cream Cheese & Vanilla
Add three quarters of the softened cream cheese and all of your vanilla, and pulse until the cream cheese is thoroughly combined with the cookie crumbs. (If no processor, thoroughly mix all ingredients in a bowl.) The mixture should reach a dough-like consistency.
3. Form the Truffles
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a small scoop or spoon, scoop out portions of the mixture and roll them into balls approximately 1 inch in diameter.
Place the balls on the parchment-lined cookie sheet. You should end up with around 24 truffles.
4. Chill the Truffle Dough Balls
Once all the balls are formed, place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 30 minutes. This chilling time will help the truffles firm up, making them easier to coat with chocolate later.
5. Melt the White Chocolate
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips. You can do this by microwaving them in 30-second intervals, stirring with a wooden spoon in between each interval, until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
6. Complete the White Chocolate Coating
Now we’re going to make the creamy white chocolate undippable. Add the remaining ounce of cream cheese to your chocolate and stir until well combined. The nice, smooth, white chocolate mixture will be more like dough, but that’s the perfect texture for our next step.
7. Coat the Truffles
Once the truffles have chilled, it's time to coat them. Take a scoop of the melted white chocolate mixture, flatten it in the palm of your hand (doesn’t have to be perfect or shaped), then place a truffle ball on top. Now roll the truffle ball between the palms of both hands until the ball is fully coated and smooth on the outside.
8. Decorate the Truffles
Decorate your Sugar Cookie Balls immediately after coating each one. Roll each ball gently in sprinkles and then place it back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
9. Set and Serve
Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving. You can speed up this process by placing the truffles in the refrigerator for 10 to 15 minutes. Once they are set, transfer the truffles to a serving platter or store them.

Serving Your Truffles
Dessert after Dinner
For an easy dessert after dinner, a little plate of sweet treats is always a good idea. Whether for casual dinners or holiday dessert tables, these truffles make a great addition.
Treat as a Cookie
When I make Christmas Sugar Cookie Truffles, I like adding them to my holiday cookie tray. You can also include them in your holiday cookie exchange. Believe me, no one will mind!
Edible Gift
This is the perfect recipe for a homemade edible gift for any occasion. Package your truffles in a decorative box or bag, and your thoughtful, delicious gift is sure to make someone happy.
Storing Your Truffles
The best way to store Sugar Cookie Truffles is in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They'll keep well for up to a week. Freezing will elongate their life to at least one month.
If after enjoying your leftover truffles from the freezer, you still don’t finish them all, you can refreeze what’s left.
Variations on Sugar Cookie Truffles
Truffle Dough Flavors
Make your own Sugar Cookie Truffle Recipe. Experiment with different extracts, such as almond or peppermint, for unique flavor twists.
Or try different cookie flavors to make lemon, snickerdoodle, or Oreo truffles.
Add-ins
Mix in chopped nuts, dried fruits, or mini chocolate chips to the truffle mixture for added texture and flavor.
Alternative Coatings
If white chocolate isn't your favorite, you can use dark or milk chocolate instead.
You can also use different flavored chips like butterscotch or peanut butter.
Vary the Size
If you want lots of little truffles, just make your dough balls smaller. If spheres aren’t your thing, form your dough into rectangles to make sugar cookie bars.
Regardless of the shape or size you decide on, I hope you love making, eating, and serving your Sugar Cookie Truffles!
